About MOEBE

Founded in 2014 by architects Martin de Neergard Christensen, Nicholas Oldroyd, and cabinet maker Anders Thams, they develop all of their designs from their studio and workshop on the island of Amager in Copenhagen.

With each design, they aim to create high-quality furniture pieces that are not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also encourage people to enjoy a life with fewer distractions. They are part of a growing movement that values honesty, simplicity, and the desire for “less.”

FAQs Penguin x MOEBE Record Stand

How many records fit in the Penguin x MOEBE Record Stand?

The stand displays one record sleeve at a time. It works as a compact now-playing stand for a current album rather than as multi-record vinyl storage.

Was the Penguin x MOEBE stand designed for records?

It was originally created as a book stand in a collaboration between MOEBE and Penguin Books, but its proportions also suit a standard LP sleeve. The record cover remains upright and visible beside the turntable.

What are the dimensions of the MOEBE record stand?

It measures approximately 20 cm high, 12.6 cm wide and 8.4 cm deep. The narrow footprint makes it practical on a record cabinet, shelf or compact audio setup.

View more questions Hide questions

Which materials and finishes are available?

Depending on the finish, the stand is made from stainless steel or coated steel. The listed choices are Sand, Black, Stainless Steel and Orange.

Does the stand hold the bare vinyl disc or the sleeve?

Use it for the album sleeve or jacket, not an exposed record. This keeps the disc protected while the artwork of the record currently playing remains visible.

Does the Penguin x MOEBE stand require assembly?

No. It is supplied as a ready-made product with no assembly required. Set it on a stable surface and place one sleeve in the support.

Can this now-playing stand be placed next to any turntable?

It is a separate freestanding accessory, so it does not depend on a specific turntable or record cabinet. Check that the chosen surface is level and leaves enough working space around the tonearm and controls.

What are the shipping, return and warranty conditions?

The page lists delivery in approximately two to four business days when available, with EU shipping of €7.95. The cancellation period is 14 days after receipt, and the warranty is two years.

Collection FAQs

What is a record stand?

A record stand is a freestanding holder for one sleeve or a small group of LPs. It can act as a now-playing display, a front-browsing queue or compact vinyl storage beside a turntable.

What is the difference between a now-playing stand and a storage stand?

A now-playing stand usually holds one album cover, while a storage stand uses deeper supports for multiple records. LP-01, Duke and Penguin x MOEBE are single-sleeve displays; Jewel LP-20 and LP-40 hold larger listening selections.

How many LPs fit in the record stands in this collection?

Capacity ranges from one sleeve to around 40 records. Check the product description rather than the overall dimensions alone, because a wide display for two or three covers is not necessarily designed to carry a row of LPs.

View more questions Hide questions

Can a record stand hold gatefold or double albums?

Often yes, but thick sleeves use more space and may not fit a narrow now-playing slot. Check the internal width and front support, particularly for box sets and heavy gatefold jackets.

Where should a record stand be placed?

Use a stable, level surface where it will not obstruct the turntable lid, tonearm or controls. Keep it away from direct sun, heat and busy edges where sleeves can be knocked onto the floor.

Which materials are common in record stands?

The range includes powder-coated steel, stainless steel and solid wood. A heavier metal base can support a slim profile, while wood stands vary naturally in grain and colour.

Do record stands require assembly?

Many single-sleeve stands arrive ready to use. Larger or convertible displays may require a foot, bracket or simple assembly. The product page should state what is included and whether wall hardware is optional.

How does a record stand work with a record cabinet?

Use the cabinet for long-term LP storage and the stand for the album being played or the next few selections. This separates browsing from archiving and keeps loose sleeves from accumulating on top of the LP furniture.
