How many records can a now-playing stand display?
Many stands hold one sleeve, including LP-01, Duke and the Penguin x MOEBE stand. Other displays show two or three covers, while front-browsing models can hold 20 or 40 LPs. Choose capacity according to whether the stand is for one album or a listening queue.
Should the record itself be placed in the stand?
Use the stand for the sleeve, not the bare disc. The record should remain on the turntable during playback or in a clean inner sleeve when not in use.

Where should a now-playing stand be placed?
Set it near the turntable but clear of the tonearm, controls, dust cover and cable route. The surface should be stable and level so the sleeve cannot fall into the playback area.
Is a tabletop stand better than a wall-mounted display?
A tabletop stand is easy to move and change without installation. A wall-mounted display frees the record cabinet top and can show several sleeves, but the fixing method and wall position need more planning.
Can now-playing stands hold thick gatefold sleeves?
Some do, but not every slot is equally wide. Check the support depth and the maker’s specifications for double LPs. A stand should hold a gatefold without forcing the spine or allowing the sleeve to tip forward.

Does a now-playing stand replace record storage?
No. It is short-term display for records in rotation. The rest of the collection still needs upright, supported vinyl storage in a record shelf, cabinet or suitable crate.
